NEW YORK — State Attorney General Letitia James has announced a $250,000 settlement in a lawsuit against the former parent company of New York Sports Club.

James sued Town Sports International in September, accusing the company of charging clients illegal cancellation fees during the pandemic.

The suit also claimed TSI prevented customers from canceling memberships when gyms were shut down.

The settlement money will be used to reimburse members.

TSI declared bankruptcy last November, and no longer owns or operates any health clubs in New York.

The settlement still needs to be approved in court.
