NEW YORK - The deaths of two sisters whose bodies were found in the Hudson River have been ruled suicides.

The Medical Examiner says 16-year-old Tala Farea and her 23-year-old sister Rotana bound themselves with duct tape before jumping into the water.

Police discovered their bodies back in October.

The two were born in Saudi Arabia but came to New York in September from Virginia.

The girls' mother had told detectives her daughters were applying for political asylum in the U.S.
