Dry Streak This Week

A quiet weather pattern is in store this week for New York. We’ll see lots of sunshine and have high temperatures in the 60s for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The normal readings this time of year are in the low 70s.

We’ll see those kind of temperatures as we get to the end of the week and over the Memorial Day weekend. The only chance for rain in our forecast is the small chance for showers on Saturday.

Weather Story: High Pressure Hero

The hero in our weather story this week is an area of high pressure. High pressure blocks storms (areas of low pressure), and this week the same of area of high pressure will save us from two "villains."

The first Tropical Storm Arthur. It’s located off the North Carolina coast with winds of 50 mph. Arthur is expected to track well east of New York City due to the area of high pressure over our area.

The second storm system is in the Ohio Valley. Flash flood watches have been issued for that region, up to four inches of rain are possible, and there could be severe thunderstorms and even tornadoes. But this storm won’t impact New York City, as high pressure remains nearby and keeps this storm away from us, making for a happy ending to our weather story.
