Delays on the Staten Island Railway are expected to continue amid ongoing staffing issues that have already led to a slew of train cancellations.

Commuters have had to make adjustments to their travels over the past few weeks because the agency cannot operate some trips with current staffing levels, according to the MTA.

The setbacks continued into Thursday with both the 7:18 a.m. train bound for Great Kills and the 7:51 a.m. train to St. George being canceled.

The MTA told NY1 that they are working to train new locomotive engineers, but they still have several more weeks of classes to complete.

One group is expected to be on the job by mid-June while others will be ready by mid-July.

In addition to adding staff, the MTA says that some local trains have added stops to pick up any customers along the line affected by any canceled train.

MTA officials said they will continue to do expand local stops and send out alerts until cancellations are no longer necessary.
