A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Harlem last week, according to the NYPD.

Police said the teen, whose identity was not released, is charged with murder, attempted murder, two counts of assault and two counts of criminal use of a firearm in connection with the July 19 shooting.

The incident happened on East 128th Street, near Park Avenue, just after the 14-year-old and a friend exited a deli around 4:30 p.m., according to police.

NYPD Chief of Patrol Jeffery Maddrey said as the two walked towards the corner of Park Avenue, another male emerged on the street and fired several rounds at the teens.

Authorities said the 14-year-old, who was later identified as Justin Streeter, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was fatally shot in the head.

The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, suffered a gunshot wound in his left leg, officials said. He is expected to recover.

It remains unclear if the boys knew the shooter, but "it does appear they are the target," Maddrey said of the shooting last week.
