A public school employee died on Wednesday a day after being shot in the head in Brooklyn about a block away from the school where he worked, according to the NYPD.

Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Ethan Holder, a paraprofessional working at P.S. 203 Floyd Bennett School.

On Wednesday, police arrested a suspect, Javier Oates, 19, and charged him with murder, criminal possessions of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm, officials said.

According to police, the shooting occurred at the corner of Avenue M and Utica Avenue in Flatlands. Authorities say Oates fired four shots, striking holder once in the head.

Police say Holder and Oates knew each other.
