QUEENS, N.Y. — Mourners including Mayor Eric Adams packed a church in Queens on Friday for the funeral of fallen firefighter Timothy Klein.

Klein, a Rockaway Beach native, died Sunday while fighting a fire in Canarsie, after becoming trapped under a collapsed ceiling, authorities said. He was 31 years old.

During his funeral Mass at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in the Belle Harbor section of the Rockaways, Klein's mother, Dee Dee Klein, said his “ultimate dream job was to be a fireman.”

“I’d like to start by telling you all how incredibly blessed we were to have Timmy for a son. From the minute he came into the world, he was loved beyond words,” she said. “He was the first born of our four children, and our only son.”

“Getting called for the New York City Fire Department was one of Tim’s happiest days,” she added. “He loved everything about becoming a firefighter.”

Adams, meanwhile, said the city would “never forget Tim’s bravery.”

Klein joined the fire department six years ago, and was an active volunteer with the Fight for Firefighters organization, which works to improve home accessibility for people with disabilities.

Those who knew him remembered him Thursday at McManus Funeral Home in Flatlands, Brooklyn, telling reporters he was "the sweetest kid."

FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh noted that everything she has heard about Klein in the last few days had been overwhelmingly positive.

"Everything you hear about Tim Klein is, 'He was the best firefighter, the best son, the best brother, the kind of guy that everybody relied on,'" she said.

Klein is the 1,157th member of the FDNY to die in the line of duty.
