NEW YORK – A former Burger King employee was indicted on murder charges Thursday for the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Burger King employee.

“Kristal Bayron-Nieves had her whole life ahead of her when she was senseless killed at just 19-years-old” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.

The shooting occurred in January at a Burger King on 116th street in East Harlem.

Winston Glynn, 30, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

The NYPD said Glynn previously worked at the same Burger King as Kristal Bayron-Nieves from April to December of 2020.

Prosecutors said Glynn robbed the restaurant and proceeded to assault two other employees inside. He then fired his weapon, shooting Bayron-Nieves in the torso after she had already given him $100 and was opening a second cash register, police said.

Kristie Nieves, Bayron-Nieves mother, was present at the arraignment and was unable to speak after seeing the man accused of murdering her daughter. Her stepfather said they want Glynn to be locked up.

Investigators said there is evidence that shows Glynn getting rid of his clothes and other items in an effort to not get caught.

Glynn is being held without bail. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
