Bishop Robert Brennan has been installed as the leader of the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The special mass took place at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights Tuesday. He was chosen for the post by Pope Francis in September.

Bishop Brennan is a Bronx native who grew up on Long Island. He previously served as bishop in Columbus, Ohio.

He said he's looking forward to getting to know his new congregants.

"This was a massive undertaking. Thank you to every one of you who had any part in putting it all together and making it so reverent, so joyful, so beautiful,” Bishop Brennan said. “You did a wonderful, wonderful job. Know how much I already love you and I look forward to being together with you, so we'll see each other soon enough."

Bishop Brennan succeeds Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, who resigned after being cleared of child sex abuse allegations.

The Diocese of Brooklyn also covers Queens.
