NEW YORK — The original "Big Gay Ice Cream" shop in the East Village is closing its doors for good.

It's been closed since the pandemic began in March and will not reopen.

The store on East 7th Street, between 1st Avenue and Avenue A, first opened in September 2011.

It started as an ice cream truck.

Three other Big Gay Ice Cream locations in Manhattan, including the biggest one in the West Village, are still in business.

The one at the South Street Seaport is currently closed.
