The 55th annual Hispanic Day Parade marches through Manhattan today.

The parade features bands, dancers and colorful traditional dress and attire from many countries.

Parade-runners say this is not about one country in particular, but the diversity of cultures who identify as Hispanic.

"We celebrating the proud to be Hispanics, we're celebrating people who came here and maintain the folklore, the dances and the traditions from our countries," said Edgardo Alonzo, the general coordinator of the Hispanic Day Parade Committee.

It began at 11 a.m. on 44th Street and heads up Fifth Avenue to 77th Street.
