The FDNY says it has suffered a possible data breach and more than 10,000 people may be affected.

The department says personal information may be compromised, including 3,000 security numbers after an employee's personal hard drive was lost in March.

The people believed to have been affected by the breach were transported by EMS from 2012 to 2018.

Despite this, the FDNY says there's no evidence that any of the private information has been accessed, but the department is offering some patients free credit monitoring as a result.

The employee, who was authorized to see the records, faces disciplinary action pending an internal investigation.
