A volunteer fire department on Staten Island has received a new truck that's supposed to help them when they respond to brush fires.

The new piece of equipment was unveiled in Travis on Friday.

With the surrounding wetlands, the borough is an area already prone to brush fires.

"They need the tools in order to help their neighbors and friends and family when there is a fire or a disaster....We are now approaching brush fire season throughout the city, particularly here on Staten Island," said Assemblyman Michael Cusick.

The lawmaker helped secured $100,000 in grant money towards the trucks purchase.
