Island fishermen treated veterans and active service members to a day at sea to honor their service.

Staten Island Tuna Club members were paired with a veteran or service member in the second annual "Armed Forces Invitational Tournament" in Great Kills Friday.

Each boat was tasked with trying to catch a 50-pound striped bass for a grand prize of 100-thousand dollars.

The Steven Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation helped organize the event.

The event also raised money for "Building for America's Bravest", a program that builds smart homes for wounded veterans and amputees.
