QUEENS, N.Y. - A man was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a school bus in Queens.

Police say they responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 67th Drive and 73rd Place in Middle Village.

Officers arrived to find the victim unconscious and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

People in the area say speeding is a major problem in the neighborhood.

"They come up here doing 30, 40, 50 - whatever their cars can do. And there's no enforcement so that's how accidents happen," said one resident.

"You watch at rush hour - at that corner, it gets hairy - it's very tight and it gets hairy," said another resident.

Investigators say the driver of the bus remained at the scene.

The city Department of Education says no students were on board at the time and the driver has been suspended pending the outcome of a thorough investigation.
