Mayor Eric Adams is calling for the federal government to work with Republican leaders to address the city's migrant crisis.

"I believe it's a crisis that needs more coordination from our country. This is one country — this is a country that's always been capable of handling those who are seeking to participate in [the] American dream. That coordination should not only be on the federal level, the state level but even city to city," Adams said Sunday morning on CNN.

Over 11,000 migrants have arrived in the city since May, and there are more buses coming almost every day, many of them sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

In a similar move, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent Venezuelan migrants on a plane from Texas to Martha's Vineyard last week.

“Instead of working with us on solutions, Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props. What they’re doing is simply wrong. It’s un-American, it’s reckless and we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border. We’re working to make sure it’s safe and orderly and humane. Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging these political stunts,” Biden said at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala on Thursday evening.
