Gov. Kathy Hochul's bid for a full term was endorsed Wednesday by Rep. Adriano Espaillat, making him the ninth member of the state's House delegation to throw his support behind her campaign.

Meanwile, Democratic members of the state Assembly Manny De Los Santos and Yudelka Tapia, as well as New York City Council members Oswald Feliz and Shaun Abreu, backed her bid for a full term as well.

“I have always known Congressman Adriano Espaillat to be a steadfast champion and vocal advocate for New York’s working- and middle-class families,” Hochul said. “From historic infrastructure investments to rental relief for tenants and support for small businesses, Rep. Espaillat has emerged as a reliably strong voice on behalf of our communities in the halls of Congress. It’s an honor to earn Adriano’s endorsement and his support will further strengthen our efforts to build a winning coalition that reflects the diversity of our state.”

Hochul faces a potentially primary challenge from Rep. Tom Suozzi and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

“Since taking office, Governor Kathy Hochul has demonstrated a work ethic, determination, and a commitment that is rooted in grit and resolve to garner the results that New Yorkers need,” Espaillat said. “Whether it’s strengthening public safety, improving our schools, or fighting to get New York’s economy back on track, Governor Hochul exemplifies collaborative leadership that works with federal, state and local government partners to address tough challenges and get things done. I am proud to endorse her campaign for a full term.”
