The City's Department of Transportation continues celebrating bike month with events across the city.

The latest event took place in Queens on Sunday where residents got to strap on their helmets for a joint bike ride through Jackson Heights.

The gathering was also an opportunity for locals to learn more about the NYCDOT's bicycle program and to take a guided tour of the area's bike lanes.

Mechanical Gardens, a community-based bicycle repair and education center, was also on hand - offering cyclists with free bicycle tune-ups.

"We want to promote bike ridership and the ability for people to maintain and work on their own bikes; so that people can use it as a reliable form of transportation," said Bahij Chancey of Mechanical Gardens.

The next event is in Brooklyn at Restoration Plaza on October 28th.
