Jose developed in the early morning of Aug. 31 in the central Atlantic and headed north, well east of Bermuda. Its estimated winds peaked at 60 mph the next morning.

However, it weakened not long after as it encountered shear from larger Franklin, which absorbed it late on Sept. 1.
