A nearby storm system kept the five boroughs under the clouds on Saturday, but, conditions stayed largely on the dry side as the bulk of the rain remained south of the area. In addition, afternoon temperatures reached the low 50s, making it just the fourth time this month that afternoon highs reached above-normal levels.

Sunday will be a different story however as that storm system pushes its way north into our area. Rain and fog are expected to develop by the early-morning hours and stay in place throughout the day. In addition, the winds will increase and some colder air will filter into the region. Afternoon temperatures will struggle to break 40 degrees.

Looking ahead, expect the sunshine to return on Monday and stay in place through Wednesday. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 40s. Clouds will then increase on Thursday as our next storm system approaches the area. Periods of rain are likely throughout the day on Friday, and some locations could see over an inch of rain. Temperatures will rise into the upper 40s and low 50s.
