Lynelle Maginley-Liddie, an eight-year veteran of the city's Department of Correction, is set to become its next commissioner, sources tell NY1.

A spokesperson for City Hall declined to confirm the appointment, but did say an announcement on the matter should be coming soon.

Maginley-Liddie has been serving as the DOC’s first deputy commissioner since 2021.

Once appointed, she will replace Louis Molina, whom Mayor Eric Adams moved into a broader role as assistant deputy mayor for public safety more than a month ago.

A federal judge is currently weighing whether to place the Rikers Island jail system under a federal third-party receivership, stripping the Adams administration of its control over the troubled jail.
