NEW YORK - A new unscripted series called “THE PACK” has dogs and their owners competing for some big prize money, half a million dollars. One of the contestants is from New York City. The series, hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn and her dog, Lucy, streams on Amazon Prime Video.

Vonn tells NY1’s George Whipple the decision to host the show was easy. “It was perfect timing for me in my career, I was just finishing up ski racing. And, you know, they said, this is a dog show you were the hosts with Lucy and there'll be 12 other dogs. And I was like, yep, I'm in.”

Twelve dog and owner teams compete in an array of challenges including sniffing out puzzle pieces and soccer.

One of the contestant duos is from New York City, Donna Modafferi and her dog, Charlie. Modafferi tells Whipple the city offers dogs a good place to call home.  “You know, there's doggy playdates there's dog parks everywhere. constant interaction with dogs on the street. I think it's a great place to have a dog in New York.”

The challenges in “THE PACK” were designed by a team of accredited veterinarians and certified dog experts to keep pooches and their persons safe.

Vonn and Modafferi say they believe the competitions were harder on the humans. “I'd say in most cases, the dog was the stronger of the two,” says Vonn. Modafferi agrees. “The competition I think was harder on me, to be honest, I you know, I worked with her so much. And she was prepared. She's ready for anything.”

The winning duo also receives $250,000 to donate to the animal charity of their choice.

Vonn, who is known as a great competitor, says she wanted to join the contest. “I really wanted to compete, I'm not sure if Lucy really wanted to compete. She's quite content, getting pampered and being a little bit of a diva.”
