A follow-up to a story we first reported on Wednesday.

The city says it inspected the building listed as the address of a Gravesend, Brooklyn pre-kindergarten program - and found the program complying with state restrictions on schools in COVID hotspots.

The city Department of Education said Friday it checked out 2170 McDonald Avenue after NY1 reported that children were seen leaving the Magen David Yeshiva Early Childhood Center at that address at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

NY1 reported the children appeared to be part of Magen David’s pre-Kindergarten program, in part because they were dismissed at 12:15 p.m., the program’s dismissal time, and looked to be pre-k age. The address is also listed as a pre-k site in DOE records.

Under the state rules, pre-k programs are not allowed to operate in the neighborhood because of the high COVID case rate there.

The yeshiva later told NY1 the children were in a day care program at that site, and not pre-k. Day care programs are exempt from the state restrictions on schools in COVID zones.

The city asks anyone with concerns about facilities they fear are violating COVID restrictions to call 311.
