NEW YORK - The largest White House offer yet for a coronavirus relief bill was rejected - getting a poor reception from both sides of the political spectrum.

The offer from the Trump Administration totaled $1.8 trillion with $300 billion dollars going to key fiscal relief for state and local governments.

However, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected the offer, calling it “one step forward, two steps back."

Pelosi's most recent offer was about $2.2 trillion.

Meanwhile, many Republicans who control the Senate dismissed the latest offer as too expensive.

After initially instructing negotiators to stop working on a stimulus bill until after the election, President Trump changed his tune recently.

However, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Congress is unlikely to deliver relief by November 3rd.

And all this comes as the White House remains short staffed as many employees are infected with the coronavirus.
