NEW YORK - About a thousand tenants at the Taft Houses in East Harlem are still waiting for their water to be restored after it was knocked out Sunday.

NYCHA says it all stems from a broken 8-inch main water supply line.

The break caused both a heat and water outage Sunday morning.

Heat service has been restored but the water outage is still impacting three buildings.

NYCHA has set up a water dispensing station outside for affected residents.

Many say the whole situation is beyond frustrating.

"I think it's a horrible situation, you know I think housing, I think there's a lot of things they need to facilitate to make this a better property for our residents here. You know, a lot of people pay rent and then they raise the rent every year but they don't accommodate us with the cleanliness, the maintenance," said one resident.

NYCHA staff has been working to address the problem, but it's not clear when all the water will be back.
