Following a chaotic 24-hours in Iowa, much of the Democratic presidential field was in New Hampshire on Tuesday, but not Mike Bloomberg.

He was in Pennsylvania, where the presidential primary doesn’t occur until late April.

As Donald Trump was preparing to give his State of the Union address, Bloomberg was addressing a crowd of what his campaign says was close to 2,000 people in the City of Brotherly Love.

“I think the results from Iowa underscore that we need a candidate who can build a coalition broad enough to unite the party and strong enough to go toe to toe with Donald trump and beat him,” said Bloomberg.

On the heels of a mess in Iowa, many pundits were saying it could be Bloomberg who now has an advantage. Skipping Iowa and focusing on later primary states, like on Super Tuesday, could work in his favor.

In fact, campaign sources told NY1 that the Bloomberg team was ramping up its television advertising and was doubling its campaign field staff from 1,000 people to 2,000.

The crowd in Philadelphia clearly thought Bloomberg's star was rising.

And voters we spoke to say Bloomberg may be the person best equipped to take on trump.

“I also feel that hopefully he can beat trump. That is our goal for sure,” said one woman.

“I was a big Biden supporter at first. I still love Biden. However, I think Mike can get it done. What he says is genuine. He’s not playing the politics game,” said one man.

Biden appears to have under-performed in Iowa, perhaps an advantage for Bloomberg, who directed his stump speech at the president.

“Tonight Donald trump will deliver the state of the union address. He will say the state of our union is strong but the truth and we all know it is our union is as divided as never before in our lifetimes. Because let’s face it because we have an angry, out of control, lawless president dividing the American people and abusing his office,” said Bloomberg.

Of course the former mayor and billionaire puts on a rally like no other presidential candidate, with free food and t-shirts.

Now Bloomberg is expected to have a heavy travel schedule the next couple of days, crisscrossing the country. Of course one of the states he is not expected to go to is New Hampshire.
