The Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls is a spectacular site in the summer and fall. Now, you can also see it in the winter.

With the exception of special events in the past, this is the first full season that New York State Parks is keeping the attraction accessible to the public during the winter.

Now, the elevators down to the attraction will be open daily 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the past, the attraction was only open from May until October or November.

However, the decks won't be there.

Those will still be taken down in the fall as they do every year, but people can take the elevators down and stand on one permanent deck and get a good view.

The New York State Parks Spokesperson, Angela Berti, said they decided to do this because it will allow people to experience the attraction in a new way.

"We are open 365 days a year, so we thought if we can do it and provide people another reason to come to Niagara Falls and enjoy the nature of this time of year,” said Berti. “I think this is the most beautiful time of year and in order to give people more to do and reasons to come, we wanted to keep it open this time of year."

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids. With tickets, people can also get ice cleats for exploration of the Gorge path.

You can also pick up snowshoes for free to explore the park at the Cave of the Winds Visitor Center.
