Historic Neir's Tavern will no longer be closing after an agreement was reached between the bar's owner and landlord, two elected officials said Friday evening.

The Queens Chamber of Commerce confirmed Friday that an agreement has been reached between Neir's Tavern owner Loycent Gordon, and property owners Ken and Henry Shi, to keep the bar open.

Assemblyman Michael Miller says the agreement was reached at a meeting between the chamber, Gordon, Ken and Henry Shi, Miller and Councilman Robert Holden.

Neir's Tavern has been serving patrons in Woodhaven since 1829. It is considered to be the oldest continually operating bar in Queens, though the title of New York City's "oldest" bar is disputed. The bar was featured in the Martin Scorsese movie "Goodfellas."

Gordon had planned to close the bar permanently on Sunday, saying that the new management company bought the bar last year and doubled his rent, and that he was nearly out of money.

He said he applied for the bar to be granted landmark status in 2016, but was unsuccessful.
