NEW YORK -  Santa's grand entrance Sunday at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Union Square brought cheers and smiles from hundreds of tiny faces who were all guests at a special holiday party.

The event put children with brain tumors and their families in the holiday spirit.

"It’s very nice to make the kids happy and enjoy taking pictures. Thank you for everything. God Bless all and happy holidays," said Lama Nasser, a parent.

"Really appreciate what they’re doing, not only for the patients, but bringing the community together," said Omar Noureddine, a parent.

ProTravel, the largest luxury travel agency based in New York, joined forces with the hospital and the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation to host the 35th annual holiday party.

More than 300 children, enjoying a day of toys, arts-and-crafts, face-painting and a bouncy house as well appearances from special guests from some of their favorite cartoons, and the North Pole of course.

"We have to remember that there are less fortunate who don’t have the ability or the health to travel like our clients do, so giving back is very important," said Pro Travel President Becky Powell.

"Really bringing a day of joy to the kids, that’s what it’s all about," said Pro Travel Senior VP Andy Pesky.

The event is more than a celebration. It also raises awareness about brain tumors, which are one of the most common cancers in children. About 4,000 children and teens are diagnosed each year.

Eric Choi is a patient here at the hospital. He's now cancer-free, but says the experience is very hard on children.

"My blood counts were too low, so I couldn’t really go to school, hang out with friends or go outside because my immune system was too low. This gives an opportunity for everyone to enjoy their time," Choi said.

And that's one gift he says all the children there can be grateful for.
