NEW YORK - The transit advocacy group Riders Alliance is calling on the city to expand the Fair Fares program.

Fair Fares was launched earlier this year and offers half-priced MetroCards to an estimated 75,000 New Yorkers living at or below the poverty line.

But some people who are benefitting from the program say it needs to reach more New Yorkers.

"I think it's important to make the city aware, to make the mayor's office aware, that this is a program that all New Yorkers should be able to benefit from. I think all New Yorkers low income and not deserve a right and access to public transportation," said Mike Gonzalez, a user of the program.

Riders Alliance is conducting an online survey to find out how well the city's Fair Fares program is working.
