NEW YORK - A routine traffic stop turned into a stand off with police in Manhattan on Wednesday.

Officers say they pulled Orosmar Vasquez over on West 48th Street in Hell's Kitchen for not wearing a seatbelt.

Police asked him several times to show his license and registration but he did not.

Investigators say Vasquez refused to get out of the car, then rolled up his window and turned the volume up on the radio.

Vasquez then rammed his 2016 Lexus into the police cars that were parked in front of him and behind him.

That's when officers broke the driver's side window and forced Vasquez from the car.

He was taken to Bellvue Hospital for medical and psychological evaluation.

Vasquez is now facing several charges, including resisting arrest and reckless endangerment.
