Grab your goggles and swimwear because the city's outdoor pools officially open for the summer Thursday.

Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver joined kids at Wagner Pool in East Harlem on Wednesday to kick off the outdoor pool season.

Wagner is one of the city's six new "cool pools" which feature new art, games, and lounge furniture.

Five other cool pools opened last year.

Free breakfasts and lunches are also being offered at many pools around the city.

"We don't just want this to be a pool we want this to be a place where people can come out, have fun, be healthy by just exercising, but also having great nutrition. And these pools if you saw them before they were an embarrassment. They hadn't been touched in some 40 years," Silver said.

Outdoor pools are open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through September 8.
