NEW YORK - Harp player Erin Hill has performed at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall, played with stars like Kanye West and even dazzled at Meghan Markle's baby shower. But she also likes to drop into local bars and clubs and shatter perceptions singing songs like "Just the two of us."

"The most common comments is I didn't know you could play fill in the blank on the harp David Bowie, Kanye West you name it," Hill explains.

NY1 caught Hill at the 5 & 10 bar in The Woolworth Building. Her musical Journey started in Kentucky where she grew up.

"When I was eight years old my mom took me to my piano lesson and there was a harp in the room and it was love at first sight I had never seen anything so gorgeous and magical and immediately begged for lessons," she recalls.

The multi-instrumentalist eventually moved to Forest Hills, Queens and began a busy and eclectic career as a composer, actor, singer and, of course, harpist. She's appeared on Broadway, toured with a Beatles tribute group and stars in music videos, often shot in Queens. She even played the harp for a Game of Thrones promo.

"The harp is like a whole orchestra in one instrument. Each notes can be three different pitches depending on where I put its pedal."

Hill clearly has her favorites including The Beatles, David Bowie, Kanye West and Neil Young. But she also likes to take requests.

"There's no instrument like the harp. I play 16 or so instruments so I can speak with authority. When I sit down and play it, it still feels as magical as when I was eight years old," Hill enthused.

Hill is playing several dates at the 5 and 10 and also has upcoming shows in June and July at the The Cutting Room and Joe's Pub. You'll probably see her coming - she brings the harp to every gig on its own dolly.
