NEW YORK - Starting Monday, the city will be testing for lead paint at more than 135,000 NYCHA apartments.

The testing gets underway at the Williamsburg and Harlem River Houses.

This follows last year's report by the city Department of Investigation that said NYCHA had failed to conduct required inspections for lead paint for four years.

Seven contractors have been hired to conduct lead paint testing.

Each one will be expected to visit between five and seven thousand apartments each month until September 2020.
