QUEENS, N.Y. - Police are still investigating a deadly hit-and-run in Queens over the weekend.

Sherena Hundalani died after being hit by a green taxi just after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Mobil gas station on Queens Boulevard and 63rd Road in Rego Park.

A station attendant says the cab driver was cutting through the station to make a U-turn when he drove onto the sidewalk and hit the woman.

People in the neighborhood say reckless driving is very common in this area.

"I'm not really very surprised, I see a lot of pedestrians use it as a crosswalk, but I also see drivers cross over if they don't want to wait for the lights. So I'm not surprised," said one resident.

Police later tracked down the driver.

He was taken into custody and released with his taxi license suspended.
