NEW YORK - Two 10-year-old pals from the Upper West Side made the trek to Chinatown on Monday to play some of their favorite video games.

"This arcade is probably the best one I have been to yet. They have all the games I love!" said David Iram, a video game fan.

Kids of all ages have been coming to Chinatown Fair on Mott Street since the 1940s. And while the games have changed, and it's now easier for to play at home on a handheld gaming system or even on a phone, one of the few arcades left in New York City keeps on drawing game lovers.

"It's kind of like a hybrid of old style games and new style games, so I think that's what makes this place work," said Steven Yee of Chinatown Fair.

The arcade did shutdown back in 2011 as the former owner decided to move on, but new owners re-opened it, focusing more on family fun. No need to twist my arm to try out my favorite game, Pop a Shot.

There's also a giant Space Invaders game. The one I played at my corner candy store was a little smaller.

I also tried some ski ball and another old fashioned game off the midway, knock down.

A more modern day game, though showing my age, one 10-year-old kid beat me at Mario Kart. Oh well, it was still fun.

A man named Mitch brings his son here from New Jersey. He likes that it's not too big like some of the super game places like Dave and Buster's.

"It's a very safe environment. It's a place that next to a lot of the other places we come to in Chinatown," said Mitch.

The days of quarters and tokens are gone. It's all a card system for playing games and redeeming prizes — which don't look like they have changed all that much since I was a kid. Among the most popular games: Dance games like Dance Dance Revolution and Pump it Up Prime. For these kids, Chinatown Fair is just the right size for fun.

"You can pretty much get to every game," said Sebby Simpkin, a video game fan.

If you want to try some of the other games come to Chinatown Fair, 8 Mott Street right here in the heart of Chinatown.
