BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The man accused of killing a city firefighter in an apparent road rage attack pled not guilty Tuesday to second degree murder charges.

A crowd of city firefighters stared down Joseph Desmond, 29, of Staten Island, as he was walked out of the 62nd Precinct in Brooklyn.

He later entered his plea in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

Desmond is allegedly a member of the Latin Kings gang, and previously served time in prison for a hate-crime assault.

He is due back in court March 1.

Police say Desmond attacked Faizal Coto on the Belt Parkway after their cars collided on December 9.

Coto died from severe head injuries.
