A Brooklyn man accused of severely beating his 16-month-old daughter, who later died, was convicted of murder Thursday.

20-year-old Shaquan Taylor was found guilty of the second-degree murder of his daughter, Nylah Lewis, in June 2017.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office said Taylor beat his daughter so badly that he fractured her skull in a Coney Island apartment on Father's Day that year.

According to the Brooklyn District Attorney's office, Taylor texted the girl's mother, saying their daughter was having trouble breathing. She arrived to find Nylah unconscious and bruised all over her body.

Authorities said Taylor also beat the mother when she called 911.

Nylah was in a coma for five days before she was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.

Her family told NY1 at her funeral in July 2017 that they will remember Nylah for her bubbly personality.

"She was a happy baby. She used to smile, laugh, she loved to eat," said Nylah's great-grandmother, Janice Munford. "She was a loving baby."

Taylor, who has criminal record that includes five prior arrests, faces up to 25 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced November 7.
