ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Some of Santa's helpers were on hand at the Riverside Convention Center Saturday.

“There was a kid that said ‘mommy doesn’t have anything under the tree.’ So to know that that is a blessing for them is what excites us,” said Khadija Yawn, Holiday Giveback.

The fourth annual Holiday Giveback Toy Giveaway gave hundreds of children presents in the spirit of Christmas.

The holiday giveaway included kids ages 1- 13 and even some parents.

A total of 1,000 toys were wrapped and ready thanks to the generosity of former NFL football player Branden Albert and the Roc Royal Family.

“You should be thankful for your gifts because there are kids out in Puerto Rico and other countries that don’t have gifts because of flooding, snow storms and everything else,” said 12-year-old Giselly Ortega.

“We want these kids to understand that they may be going through some things right now, they may not be able to afford anything, but victory is at the end of the tent,” said Yawn.

The giveaway comes at a time of the year where parents say money can be tight and unforeseen circumstances can be a bummer during the holiday season.

“A lot of people aren’t able to provide as much for their children or just in the community period. A lot of people are struggling right now trying to make ends meet,” said parent Teeya Matthews. “Their finances aren`t how they use to be. People are losing jobs so it`s important to make people as though they`re worth it.”

Kids were also given the opportunity to take free pictures with Santa.
