It’s the battle of the robots this weekend in Queens.

Local high school students are competing to see who can design and build the best robot at Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows.

Forty-eight  teams from across the city will have to get their robots to complete a series of tasks as part of the 'Velocity Vortex Tech Challenge.'

It’s sponsored by FIRST NYC, which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology."

Organizers say the program inspires students to get involved in science and technology and prepares them for modern, tech-based jobs.

Winning teams will compete in the regional championship in February.
