A woman is in stable condition after she was hit by a yellow cab in Greenwich Village.

Police say the 33-year-old taxi driver had a medical episode that caused him to lose control of the vehicle just before the accident.

It happened around 11 a.m. Thursday on East Eighth Street and University Place, just blocks from NYU.

An eyewitness described the scene after the crash.

"It was really scary seeing that, the cab was on the sidewalk facing the wrong way on a one way and you could just see the skid marks on the building and you could see all the rubble on the ground and just everyone crouching down and trying to look under the cab to see if they can see the woman under there."

The 33-year-old woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

The driver remained on the scene.

No charges have been filed.
