Dozens of beardsmen are headed to Brooklyn this weekend to face off.

Challengers from 36 states and seven countries will take part in the National Beard and Mustache Championships.

It's the 6th annual competition but the first time it's being held in the city.

The event is organized by a group called Beard Team USA.

And it's a facial hair sculpture showcase with 18 different categories including the imperial partial beard and the musketeer.

Contestants say hair products are a must.

"Coat it a little bit. What I can feel is, I can smell it," said Marc McShane, who travelled from Minnesota to compete in the Amish beard category. "But what's happening is the beard holds together a little more.

"I do it all by hand. And it takes a couple of hours to keep doing it, doing it, doing it, doing it. But it doesn't really look good until the very end."

The shaggy showdown gets underway Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Kings Theater in Flatbush.
