In the wake of Friday's shootings at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado, Governor Andrew Cuomo says security is being stepped up at the organization's clinics around the state.

Starting Monday, state police will begin making regular visits to more than 60 clinics in New York.

There are already patrols in place at locations here in the city and other parts of the state.

State police will also discuss emergency planning with clinic workers.

In a statement Saturday, Planned Parenthood disclosed that witnesses said the gunman was motivated by his opposition to abortion.

Planned Parenthood's headquarters are located here in the city and in Washington.

Meanwhile, authorities in Colorado are still trying to confirm the suspected gunman's motive.

After surrendering to police, a law enforcement official tells the Associated Press that 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear said, "No more baby parts."

Community members gathered at the University of Colorado in Colorado Spring on Saturday to hold a vigil for police officer Garrett Swasey, who was killed in the attacks with two other people.

Five other officers and four people were also hospitalized.
