Dr. Odai Sinokrot, from Maimonides Medical Center, joined “News All Day” to talk more about how to take care of yourself during this air quality crisis.

Dr. Sinokrot recommends staying indoors, limiting outdoor activities, and wearing an N95 or KN95 mask when stepping outside.

Dr. Sinokrot says this type of smoke has small particles that travel in the air for long periods of time, which means that even if it looks like the skies are clearing, exposure can still take place.

According to the doctor, the emergency room at Maimonides is seeing an increase in people who are coughing, wheezing or having a shortness of breath.

He recommends having an air purifier at home and to set your air conditioner to recirculate air.
