Adda Indian Canteen, the brainchild of restaurateur Roni Mazumdar and chef Chintan Pandya, has been turning heads in the culinary scene for its bold Indian dishes, and landed a spot on The New York Times’ list of 100 best restaurants in the city.

During an interview with “Mornings On 1” Friday, Mazumdar said one of his favorite things about the eatery is that the food is “unpretentious” and that both he and Pandya have grown up with the dishes on the menu.

Pandya agreed, saying “this is the food we actually love eating.”

Their approach to Indian cuisine also won praise from New York Times food critic Pete Wells, who said their love for spice is “unapologetic.”

“They absolutely go for whatever the dish should taste like, if they think it should be super spicy it will be,” he said.

Tune in next Friday morning on NY1, when another restaurant from The New York Times list will be featured.
