Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio held a joint press conference yesterday where they touted Amazon's decision to open up their new headquarters in Long Island City.

Amazon's new Long Island City headquarters will create at least 25,000 jobs, at an average salary of more than $150,000.

Under terms of the deal, Amazon will also provide space for a new, 600-seat school, a waterfront esplanade and park, and an on-site job training and recruitment center - creating tremendous opportunity for local residents, says Mayor de Blasio, including those in the nearby Queensbridge Houses.

But not all local politicians are thrilled with the idea.

Queens Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer pushed back on the deal, saying New York was duped into cutting a bad deal in which the city turns over billions to one of the wealthiest companies in the world.
