1. Justin Brannan, Ari Kagan face off in City Council District 47 debate
In one of the most anticipated races this election season, two City councilmembers are competing against each other to represent a newly redrawn district in southern Brooklyn.
On Tuesday, Democrat Justin Brannan and Republican Ari Kagan went head to head in a lively debate on “Inside City Hall,” with Brannan going aggressively at his opponent almost from the opening bell.

2. Hate crimes rising in city since start of Israel-Hamas war, NYPD says
Police say there has been an uptick in hate crimes in the city since the Israel-Hamas war began.
Christopher D’Aguiar, 28, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with a hate crime, according to the NYPD. The NYPD says D’Aguiar punched a 29-year-old woman in the face on Oct. 14.
When she asked why he punched her, police say he told her it was because she was Jewish.
3. Mount Sinai physical therapist volunteering at Israel hospital
Tali Speizman is a physical therapist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, but right now, she is more than 5,000 miles away.
Speizman is back in her hometown in Israel after Hamas killed more than 1,400 Israelis earlier this month.
She had multiple family members die in the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack. In less than a week, she attended three separate funerals.
