1. Israeli and Palestinian supporters rally in New York as Israel declares war after Hamas attack

Supporters of Israel and backers of the Palestinian cause held competing rallies yesterday over the conflict that has killed hundreds and wounded thousands in the Middle East.

A skirmish broke out between opposing demonstrators near the United Nations compound after a large group of Palestinian supporters rallied in Times Square.

2. NYPD transit chief discusses drop in subway crime

The NYPD held their crime statistics briefing Thursday, touting that violent crime in the city is continuing to go down, including on the subway system.

Neir’s Tavern has been serving patrons in Woodhaven since 1829. It’s considered to be the oldest continually operating bar in Queens.
