Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso held a state of the borough address for Brooklyn Tuesday — the first one in 10 years.

On Thursday, Reynoso joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” to talk about his vision for the future of Brooklyn.

He emphasized his commitment to improve maternal health by devoting $45 million to efforts.

“You gotta put your money where your mouth is, and I made that commitment when I was running for office,” he said. “And here I am fulfilling that.”

His other plans for the borough include purchasing permanent spaces for nonprofits, transitioning Brooklyn to renewable energy, starting up Black-owned businesses in Brownsville and reforming the way community boards operate.

For Brooklyn’s community boards, members are typically between the ages of 45 to 65 — closer to 65 years old, according to Reynoso.

He said he plans on having at least two young residents, between the ages of 16 and 18, on every community board “so we can have some diversity in the voices because it’s not just about race and ethnicity.”

“There’s so many other things and opinions that Brooklynites have and we want to hear them,” Reynoso continued.
