While the city deals with a growing affordability crisis, over 88,000 rent-stabilized apartments were vacant throughout the five boroughs last year, our partner The City reported

Sam Rabiyah, a reporter with The City, joined Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss the city’s current housing crisis.

“Essentially those reports found that actually landlords are reporting 61,000 vacant rent-stabilized units,” he said, adding that landlords are required to notify when units are vacant. “And ultimately we talked to a lot of tenant advocates as well who have said this problem has persisted for a couple of years now.”
